“My My My!” was the top trending topic worldwide after its release last week and the official video, directed by Grant Singer (Lorde, The Weeknd), became the #1 trending clip on YouTube. After only six days, cumulative worldwide streams surpassed 25 million.

Pitchfork named it the “Best New Track” and observed, “With his throbbing new single “My My My!” – one of the first great songs of this young year – Sivan is celebrating pure joy, the feeling of being swept up and rendered invincible by new love.” TIME placed it on its list of “5 Songs You Need to Listen to This Week” and Rolling Stone hailed it as “a joyous preview of his upcoming album.” Idolator noted, “the searing track has all the makings of a major hit.”

OUT said, “Gone are the emotionally pure days of the heart-wrenching Blue Neighbourhood trilogy of videos or his house party sleepover visuals for ‘Youth.’ In their place, the Australian singer has a sensual, swaggering new video…” NPR Music observed, “It’s an infectious celebration of sexual desire.”

Troye was recently selected by designer Pierpaolo Piccioli to be the face of the Valentino Spring 2018 menswear advertising campaign. His 2015 debut album, Blue Neighbourhood(Capitol Records), topped the iTunes charts in 66 countries. It has sold more than two million adjusted albums worldwide and is certified Gold in the U.S. Streams across all platforms exceed 1.5 billion while video views have surpassed 500 million.

The New York Times hailed Troye as a “prototype for tomorrow’s global pop star” and he appeared on the covers of Rolling Stone, Out and V Magazine. Associated Press named Blue Neighbourhoodas the No. 1 album of 2015 and Rolling Stone awarded it four stars. The single “Youth” claimed the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot Club Play chart and has been certified Platinum in the U.S. His numerous awards include a Billboard Music Awards trophy and two GLAAD Media wins.

GORILLAZ LAUNCH INNOVATIVE NEW APP TO IDENTIFY NEW ENGINEERING TALENT

Jaguar Land Rover join forces with Gorillaz to address the global shortfall in engineering talent, by launching a new innovative mixed reality app to inspire future generations and identify bright sparks to fill 1,000 new roles

19th June 2017, Alternate Reality: Jaguar Land Rover joins forces with Gorillaz to address the global shortfall in engineering talent, by launching a new innovative mixed reality app to inspire future generations and identify bright sparks to fill 1,000 new roles.

Jaguar Land Rover and Gorillaz are working together to recruit the next generation of world-class electronics and software engineering talent, with a code-breaking challenge found in the virtual band’s app. The best performers will be fast-tracked through the recruitment process, helping to meet the company’s ambition to employ thousands of bright new talents over the next year. It’s a major change in the way the business looks for candidates, aiming to tackle the engineering skills gap and inspire and attract a diverse range of talent and new thinking.

The new Jaguar Land Rover recruitment area will launch in The Gorillaz App on 19th of June in the form of a 360-environment situated in the garage of the band’s home which also features all the iconic vehicles from Gorillaz’ past. Here, applicants can explore and take a two-part challenge. The first part, designed to educate users about the benefits of electric vehicles, involves assembling the Jaguar I-PACE Concept, Jaguar’s first all-electric five-seater sports car. The second and more demanding part of the game, developed to engage and recruit budding electronic wizards and coders, will focus on cracking code – there are more than  4,000 combinations, as well as cipher in an alternate reality format. The challenges put a stronger focus on skills and talents than on qualifications.

The project follows on from Jaguar Land Rover’s STEM initiative with Gorillaz in 2016, where founder member and female guitarist, Noodle, became Jaguar’s Formula E Racing and global STEM Ambassador.

Jaguar Land Rover is hoping the mixed reality app will tackle the engineering skills shortfall by attracting a diverse range of talent. As well as identify talent, the company hopes to both inspire the next generation of engineers and also attract more women to the profession. Only 9% of the UK engineering workforce is female – this has remained the same since 2005 (IET 2015). In fact, the UK has the lowest percentage of female engineering professionals in Europe, while Latvia, Bulgaria and Cyprus lead with nearly 30% of the engineering workforce female.

If Stones Could Speak: The Palaces, Gardens and Monasteries of SouthWest Germany

Almost four million visitors each year visit 60 of Baden-Württemberg’s monuments and enjoy their very special atmosphere and the range of varied activities on offer there. Free open days, special guided tours, culinary demonstrations, garden walks make these special places come alive with stories from the past.
Anyone wanting to make the most out of Baden-Württemberg will soon realize they’ve come to the right address at Staatliche Schlösser & Gärten (SSG), the state heritage preservation agency for the state of Baden-Württemberg, or SouthWest Germany. The agency is responsible for 60 historic monuments that it maintains, develops and opens to the public. They include famous places such as Heidelberg Palace but also hidden gems such as the Palace and Palace Gardens in Schwetzingen, only 20 minutes from Heidelberg; the well-known Ludwigsburg Residential Place outside of Stuttgart as well as the lesser-known but no less stunning baroque gardens of Weikersheim Palace; the World Cultural Heritage site of Maulbronn Monastery as well as the luxurious Salem Monastery and Palace on Lake Constance and the Hohentwiel Fortress Ruins. Each estate has its own special stories that make each visit memorable as the past come alive with the lives of noble families, kings, queens and their followers.
Heidelberg Palace, the most famous palace ruin anywhere in the world, is the “flagship” of the Baden-Württemberg monument landscape and has more people visiting it than any other monument in the federal state. Its ruins are some of the most romantic in all of Europe ranging from the Elizabeth Gate constructed overnight by Ludwig V for his wife, Elizabeth Stuart to the façade of the castle which is brilliantly lit up four times each year in an enormous display of Bengal fireworks. The palace has cafes and a newly opened restaurant with one Michelin star.
Only 20 minutes from Heidelberg is the lesser-known summer palace of Schwetzingen with its extensive formal gardens, allees, and park. One of the most beautifully planned gardens in Europe, it also has a stunning restaurant open to the public which is well worth the visit especially during asparagus season. Hidden by enormous hedges, an outdoor stage is carved from a grotto where the nobles would gather and stand for hours while the king and queen sat and watched the plays.
The UNESCO monument of Maulbronn Monastery has a much different story as it was, and still is, a Protestant school. Today, it hosts concerts, culinary demonstrations, wine tastings and architectural tours. The Cistercian monastery in its rural tranquillity has been included on the UNESCO World Heritage List on account of its well-preserved architecture and history. Other outstanding examples of church architecture, include the resplendent monasteries of Upper Swabia, such as Wiblingen, Schussenried and Ochsenhausen and the impressive medieval complexes, including the monasteries of Bebenhausen and Alpirsbach, and the grandiose castles and ruins of fortresses, such as Hohentwiel or Hochburg.
At a time when celebrations of the Reformation 500 years ago are going on throughout Germany, there is an opportunity to savour this anniversary year in a quite particular way in these castles and monasteries where famous events occurred. Heidelberg Palace is an example as it used to be the residence of the prince electors of the Palatinate, who espoused the Reformation at an early stage. It was here that the Heidelberg Catechism was compiled at the behest of the prince elector – and it has retained its validity through to the present. In the 16th century, the palace was the glittering stage of the powerful protestant prince electors.
In Maulbronn Monastery, the Duke of Württemberg established a school in the former Cistercian monastery after the Reformation. In doing so, he marked the beginning of a pioneering tradition, which has continued through to the present. In those regions that did not go along with the Reformation, the Counter-reformation gave birth to an artistic movement, whose stated aim was to bring heavenly magnificence down to earth. The large monasteries in Ochsenhausen or Schussenried, as impressive edifices of Upper Swabian baroque, bear effective witness to that Counter Reformation. Fourteen monasteries and palaces are playing their part in the theme year and have an open invitation to visitors.
Another highlight this year is the reopening of the renovated bel étage in Bruchsal Palace, the former residence of the bishop princes. The reconstruction of the suite of rooms in the bel étage of Bruchsal Palace is now complete and a lost chapter from Bruchsal’s history has come back to life. But more than that: in the 18th century, the prince bishops’ palace used to be one of Europe’s cultural and artistic “hotspots.” During WWII, numerous artistic treasures were taken away for safe keeping, including furniture, paintings and tapestries – more than 350 priceless items – and they are now back in their original positions. It is no exaggeration to say that the collection of valuable tapestries in Bruchsal Palace is absolutely unique. Altogether, there are 38 of them, one of the biggest collections in Europe.
The third Sunday in June is Schlosserlebnistag (Experience a Castle Day), and many people make sure it is highlighted in their diaries – not only those living in Baden-Württemberg. It is a day on which all the palaces and castles throughout Baden-Württemberg are open to the public and offer organized events particularly suitable for families. On October 8, the Erlebnistag im Kloster  (A Day in the Monastery) will be held. Visitors can find out about the world of the monks and the pupils who studied in the schools that were installed in the monastery buildings later on. Whether large monastery complexes or romantic monastery ruins, whether severe mediaeval chambers or joyous baroque dining halls, the range of impressions is extensive.
Every year, the Staatliche Schlösser und Gärten frequently renews its programming and adds new and unusual guided tours. It might be stroll escorted by a lady or gentleman in historical dress, applying all their charms and acting skills in transporting you back to their epoch; or it might be a gourmet tour, during which experiencing history is combined with a culinary extra; or, yet again, it might be a “behind the scenes” program, a children’s event or a walk by candlelight – whatever it is, it will include plenty that’s new or never been seen before.

Hey Violet Release Debut Album From The Outside on June 16th

The band co-wrote all songs on the album which was produced by Julian Bunetta.  Watch the video for their new single “Break My Heart,” HERE: https://heyviolet.lnk.to/BreakMyHeartVe.

The song was included on Spotify’s New Music Friday Playlist and has racked up over eight million streams combined.  Idolator says “Break My Heart” is a “monstrous electro-anthem” and declares, the band is “destined to have a massive year.”

Alternative Press calls the track “irresistible,” while Nylon raves, “Hey Violet knows how to write a good pop hook and ‘Break My Heart’ is a testament to that. This song has spunk.” “Break My Heart” is the follow-up to Hey Violet’s smash single “Guys My Age,” which has more than 41 million combined streams, while the video has over 14 million views.

Watch the video HERE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LzWUAkpNrQ.

“Guys My Age” was named one of the Best Songs of 2016 by The New York Times, who called it “teen-pop’s revenge: an urgent dark song about sexual rebellion” and one of the 20 Best Songs of 2016 by V Magazine. Hey Violet was also nominated for a 2017 iHeart Radio award for Best Underground Alternative Band and been dubbed an Artist Primed For A Breakout in 2017 by Billboard and a 2017 Artist To Watch by The Guardian, PopCrush and more.  The band recently wrapped up a sold out North American headline tour, graced the March cover of Alternative Press, and performed “Guys My Age” on both The Late Late Show With James Corden and Late Night With Seth Meyers.  Check out their new track “O.D.D.” which Rookie Magazine says is “a track dedicated to a feeling of unrest and a lack of belonging that strikes home to many.”

Listen HERE: https://heyviolet.lnk.to/ODDYO.

Hey Violet’s Brand New Moves EP debuted as the #1 album on iTunes in the U.S., and U.K. The Los Angeles Times compared their move “from grimy punk to shiny pop” to the Go-Go’s, while Galore declared front woman Rena Lovelis, “emits an unheard of level of rock-stardom for such a small girl without even singing a single note. But when she does sing, it’s as if Courtney Love, Gwen Stefani, and Hayley Williams crashed into each other and made a whole new generation of rock star.  ”Hey Violet is Rena Lovelis, her sister Nia Lovelis (drums), Miranda Miller (keys, vocals), Casey Moreta (lead guitar) and Iain Shipp (bass).

From its very first seconds, Hey Violet’s full-length debut bursts with the unstoppable energy of a band that’s truly come into its own. Building off the gritty alt-rock of their early days and boldly expanding their sonic possibilities, From the Outside dreams up a sharp-edged pop sound full of new-wave synth and bubblegum melody, glossed-up grooves and shimmering beats.

In the past year, the L.A.-based five-piece have more than proven the power of their immaculately crafted alt-pop. Having amassed over 40 million combined streams since its September release, Hey Violet’s smash single “Guys My Age” was named one of the Best Songs of 2016 by the New York Times (who hailed the track as “teen-pop’s revenge: an urgent dark song about sexual rebellion”)  and one of the 20 Best Songs of 2016 by V Magazine.  Along with touring North America on a sold-out headline run, Hey Violet were recently crowned an Artist To Watch by the likes of The Guardian, PopCrush and more.  Adding to that acclaim, the Los Angeles Times lauded the band for “moving from grimy punk to shiny pop like the Go-Go’s once did,” while Billboard declared Hey Violet primed for a breakout in 2017.

From the Outside arrives as the follow-up to 2016’s Brand New Moves—a critically praised EP that debuted as the #1 artist album on iTunes in the US and UK. Throughout the album, frontwoman Rena Lovelis joins her sister Nia Lovelis (on drums) and fellow bandmates Miranda Miller (on keys/vocals), Casey Moreta (on lead guitar), and Iain Shipp (on bass) in turning out hook-driven pop that’s emotionally intense but massively catchy. According to Rena, whose magnetic vocal presence electrifies each song, that heightened emotionality has much to do with a creative atmosphere conducive to secret-spilling. “A lot of the time, ideas came from conversations we had in the studio about what was going on in our lives,” she says. “Everyone would open up and we’d draw from all those experiences and then turn them into songs.”

Produced by Julian Bunetta, From the Outside channels Hey Violet’s true-to-life subject matter into love songs both deeply romantic and defiant in attitude. The album-opening “Break My Heart,” for instance, offers up a dreamily masochistic track dubbed a “monstrous electro-anthem” by Idolator. Alternative Press calls the track “irresistible,” while Nylon raves, “Hey Violet knows how to write a good pop hook and ‘Break My Heart’ is a testament to that. This song has spunk.” On “Hoodie,” throbbing beats and wistful melody meet with painfully detailed lyrics about post-breakup obsession. “We all have those old things of our exes’ lying around the house,” says Rena, referring to the keepsake of the song’s title. “You hold onto it because you can’t let that person go, but then one day you don’t need it anymore—you can finally move on.” On “Like Lovers Do,” meanwhile, Hey Violet show the ever-expanding scope of their sound and deliver a dreamlike waltz laced with gossamer guitar lines and Rena’s beautifully spooky vocal work.

A different form of serenade, “O.D.D.” was conceived as “an ode to our fans who feel different and outside the norm,” as Rena explains. “I think a lot of people who listen to our music have had those moments where it’s like you were just dropped down from Mars, and you’re completely out of place on Planet Earth,” she adds. Powerfully haunting, the acoustic-guitar-laced track delicately explores isolation in its clever but cutting lyrics (“I’m the girl in the back of the class/Pink hair but I’m wearing all black”). And on “This Is Me (Breaking Up With You),” Hey Violet close out From the Outside with a gloriously hyped-up anthem fueled by crunchy guitar tones and a fiercely chanted refrain. “When we wrote that song, I sat down and listed all these things to tell the poor guy I’m breaking up with in the song—stuff like, ‘Please don’t cry, ‘cause I’m not in the mood,’” says Rena. “It’s a little sassy and a little rude, but in a way that’s so fun.”

For Hey Violet, a spirit of fun reigned supreme throughout the making of From the Outside. During the pre-production period, the Lovelis sisters headed out to the desert with a team of co-writers for a low-key writing camp complete with elaborate pancake breakfasts. “I have two mice—Clementine and Ramona—and I brought them with me to the camp,” Rena recalls. “We were staying right next to golf course and sometimes we’d sneak on and play golf, and I’d take my mice and let them walk on the grass. We ended up getting in trouble, but it was so much fun. What sticks in mind now is not just all these great songs we came up with, but all the beautiful experiences we had and all the memories we made with these new friends of ours.”

Born in New York but raised in L.A., the Lovelis sisters grew up on bands like Nine Inch Nails and began playing music before the age of ten. In middle school, several years after Nia took up drums and Rena started on bass guitar, the sisters posted an online ad seeking bandmates and soon hooked up with Miranda (a Florida native and sometimes poet who learned to play piano from her grandfather). Several years later, the trio connected with Casey (a fellow music obsessive who’d picked up guitar at 7-years-old) and asked him to officially join the band with an onstage proposal at the Viper Room. By 2015, Hey Violet had earned a passionate following, largely due to their years of gigging around L.A. Soon after they’d signed with Hi Or Hey Records in March 2015, their debut EP I Can Feel It shot to #1 on iTunes in five countries. After releasing Brand New Moves and playing to a sold-out Madison Square Garden crowd as a support act for 5SOS, Hey Violet added Iain to their lineup and, in early 2017, embarked on their headline tour.

Recently nominated for an iHeart Radio award for Best Underground Alternative Band, Hey Violet took home the Next Big Thing prize at last year’s Teen Choice Awards. As they gear up for a headline tour of Europe, the band members are building up their live show by experimenting with electronic production and creating their own interludes to weave throughout each set. “Over the past year we’ve become much more self-sufficient as a band,” says Rena. “We put all of our hearts and our souls into this album and came up with something that we all love and feel really connected to, and because of that we’re stronger than ever before.”
