Major Lazer Reveal The Sound of Rum

MAY 2017: American electronic trio, Major Lazer, have dropped a brand new track to kick off the summer season.

The trio who have been working on new material over the last year, dropped their new single “Front of the Line” at an exclusive event held in collaboration with BACARDI to officially kick off summer. In addition to dropping their new track, they also revealed that they will be releasing a new album in the very near future. With performances scheduled at festivals across the US and Europe this summer, including Glastonbury (UK) and Way Out West (Sweden), the new single is being touted as 2017’s soundtrack to summer.

Diplo, Jillionaire and Walshy Fire, began their unique partnership with BACARDÍ at the start of 2017, when they announced the “Sound of Rum” concept – a conversational movement of sound that blurs lines between reggae, dancehall, soca, hip-hop and electronic music to bring fans of different genres together.

Friday’s event celebrated the launch of the “Sound of Rum” as revealed through Major Lazer’s brand new track. The event also gave fans the first opportunity to try the Major Lazer Limited Edition Rum, the inspiration behind which he comes from the Caribbean, much like Major Lazer’s sound, making the collaboration a perfect blend.

The special event offered more than world class music, with four island inspired pop-up restaurants from across the globe serving up authentic island fare and rum cocktails to really bring the Sound of Rum to life. As part of the collaboration, fans can expect multimedia activations and experiences throughout the summer.
