DOLOMITES, Italy, Oct. 15, 2015 – Italy’s active leader in guided and self-guided mountain travel, Dolomite Mountains Ltd., launches a seven-day family ski safari this winter that explores three unique mountain cultures in Italy’s year-round outdoor playground, the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dates are up to the guests who comprise a group of four or more.
Families on skis will experience the Dolomiti Superski, a collection of 12 inter-connected resorts with 1,200 kilometers (746 miles) of prepared pistes or ski runs. At the end of each snow-filled day, they find themselves at a rifugio — a bed and breakfast accommodation in the mountains. Here they are hosted for dinner and breakfast as well. And then it’s out the door on skis and on to the next rifugio the next night.
“Ski Safaris are quite unlike any ski vacation you have had before. Ski the famous Dolomite Mountains, stay in different mountain rifugios every night and enjoy lift access to hundreds of miles of prepared terrain – you may never ski the same run twice! Now with the launch of this new itinerary you can combine a love of skiing with the regions culinary highlights,” said Agustina Lagos-Marmol, Founder of Dolomite Mountains Ltd. (http://www.dolomitemountains.com/en/home.htm).
These alpine mountain inns are set high atop the mountains with excellent views. Cozy wood-paneled bedrooms and big fluffy duvets make for a great end to the day. While crossing from region to region – the South Tyrol, Badia, and Cortina – guests experience the unique combination of flavors resulting from the different Italian, Austrian, and Ladin cultures and cuisines found in these valleys
The imposing peaks of the Dolomite Mountains provide extraordinary terrain for skiing and snowboarding. With the sun shining an unparalleled eight days out of 10 in this sunny winter paradise – more than any other range in the Alps – skiers of all ages will rejoice. Nearby for exploration are some of the Dolomites’ most famous resorts including Cortina d’Ampezzo, Marmolada, Val di Fassa and Civetta areas.
This trip begins and ends in Alta Badia and is available as a custom, private departure on dates that clients choose, from mid-December to mid-April. One guide is assigned to a group of up to six. Dolomite Mountains professional UIAGM/IFMGA Ski Guides have years of experience skiing the Dolomites. From the moment guests arrive in the Dolomites guides will provide all the escort needs required. They know the best ski runs, mountain restaurants and how things work in the Italian mountains.
A private trip for a minimum of four is from €2640 per person, except in high season (Jan.30-March 15) when rates are slightly more. This rate includes a trip briefing, logistics and map of the region, bed and breakfast accommodations for three nights in Alta Badia and one night in Val di Fassa, and two nights in private rooms in mountain rifugios, all breakfasts and dinners at the accommodations; local English-speaking professional UIAGM/IFMGA ski guide for five days; a Dolomite Superskipass for five days; transportation as required and local tourist and Italian VAT taxes. Available upon request are airport transfers and ski equipment rentals.
